This week we hosted our HR colleagues from US and India. It’s always a heartwarming event for us all, where we get to spend time with colleagues that we email and talk to over the phone on (almost) a daily basis. Being the local host, we do try our best to come up with activities that provide a platform to foster stronger department-ties and glimpse of Singapore.
Fortunately for us, this group is no stranger to Singapore, so it became a tad bit harder to think of what we should do – what will everyone enjoy etc. Having a nice dinner and evening out (but it can get pretty boring) is a standard protocol, so out came the idea of why not have a cooking party – we get our hands dirty, we engage in a friendly competition on which team whips up the best dishes (fostering teamwork), and best of all, we get to enjoy the dishes we cooked together- together. Thus, Cookyn Inc was called upon to facilitate our HR 2011 team building activity.
Now, not all of us are pros in the kitchen and some of us can’t even hold a knife properly (me!) or differentiate the ingredients being used but even so that did not stop us from enjoying ourselves and cooking up some yummy dishes – we did the Thai and Viet menu, so in that was Tom Yum Parcel, Vietnamese Roll, Spicy chicken (can’t remb the full name), and Asian Pastry. And, I can proudly say …I should be able to whip up two of the dishes mentioned above!
I must admit it was one of the best team building event we organized – the good folks from Cookyn Inc were simply awesome in facilitating the whole event and ensuring none of us burnt down their kitchen or in my case, cut off a finger hehe.
So cooking party, anyone?
