La Bottega Enoteca

Last week we finally had the chance to visit La Bottega Enoteca – it’s been on my list for the longest time, and whilst pending for some nail-bitting news, we decided whatever the outcome is – we’re going to be kind to our tummy.

I opt for the counter seat right in front of the pizza station, givings us an up- close and personal experience of our pizza and others being made. If you’re there with a larger group, one of the tables in the main hall would be ideal, otherwise the counter is perfect for an intimate sharing experience. With that said, the menu is definitely meant for sharing – aside from the 3 appetizers which are fixed, each patron gets to choose 2 mains , which equates to 2 points (they do have a point system), of which some mains are meant for 2 pax, hence that that counts for 2 points. The mains are a mix of pizza, pasta and poultry – now , honestly, as much as I love my meats – I was there for the carbs , which means the pizza and pasta was high on our list. And rightfully so, since it’s their specialities – homemade Neapolitan pizza and pasta! Oh, and for dessert lovers – 3 on the menu to choose from.

The waiter did warned us for going all out on the pizza and pasta, and suggested we supplement one mains for a poultry dish but we kept to our ‘all-carbs ‘conviction. The highlight for us – pizza: tomato based burratta pasta: tortello with stracchino. Though, the staff did forget our second pasta and no one came up to check on us, when we were lingering for a fair bit of time after our first pasta dish – we gave the benefit of doubt, it was a full house and they did give us a 10% off the bill for the delay. A nice but not needed gesture, as the food was good enough for us to come back for a second go.

It was a nice respite to be out – but my emotions was still in a limbo from the past month’s event, and was ever so easily triggered that our conversation was tense . Luckily, it wavered with our peppering our comments/ feedback when each dish was presented to us. The appeal of food and love for food knows no boundaries!
