Two deliveries were made yesterday to my favourite people. One was feeling slightly under the weather with work and was working within herself to sort out the issues. Giving her the space she needs – she’s very intuitive , reflective and most likely has the answers, so we’re not broaching the subject till she comes to us. Figured a little present to spruce up her desk and hopefully, brings a little smile to her face when she feels like “killing” anyone at work, will help in someways. I specifically requested for a totoro- themed because we both love that adorable grey silhouette and beige belly :).
The other delivery was to celebrate his achievements – he’s been the happiest at this work abode, I’ve seen him flourish and really charge forward here. I love hearing the good news he shares every so often, so for him a ‘money plant’ was chosen to bring further good intentions and interventions as he soars new grounds at work. Kusakabe-san was chosen for him to mellow the loneliness of the plants. I love that little burst of yellow and wide smile on her face. Oh well, he says she reminds him of me – am assuming character-wise here heh.

The comfort and joy of having few lovely beings to share the lows and highs of your daily (work) grind makes the tough gets going. I am still learning, improvising and bettering ways to not let work get to me (hey, we’re humans after all). What’s been working well is a constant reinforcement of asking (i) do THEY really need a response from you NOW? (ii) what is the point you want to drive – don’t deviate from that (iii) we hear this all the time – is this a battle that needs to be fought and fought NOW? (iv) look at the issue – and not the person -or in my case, assess the role/position first and foremost, followed by competencies, prior to looking at the incumbent.
I like to think these little reinforcements are what makes up your work values and metrics – and how you would like to demonstrate your stand and meet objectives.
