Kakak

Kakak.

She’s been in the company for 8 years and is one of my biggest pillar of support here. I wouldn’t have got through some of the trying days at work, if it wasn’t for her support, boundless of knowledge, and encouragement.

Waiting for me at my desk when I come into the office from a red-eye flight or late nights, would be a cup of kopi-O and curry puff for breakfast. She chides me for eating (too much) salads for lunch, reminds me not to yoga so much when I barely get enough of sleep or tells me to log off and study – during exam period – and she’ll handle the rest for me.

It’s a blessing to tag team with Kakak – and even though changes are coming and the unwillingess for it to take place, I know for sure Kakak will always be a phone call away.

This week, we had a lunch date .Well, she wanted to treat me to a birthday lunch. The cafe she chose was halal and had choices that would sit well with my palate, which was a winner for the both of us.

I decided to surprise her by ordering something from the brunch menu rather than a bowl of salad. Her eyes widened when I gave my order and I couldn’t help but cheekily blurt out – ‘you treating mah, can’t eat grass’.

To many more lunches and cheeky retorts, my dearest Kakak.
