When I was in Hong Kong last month, knowing it was a short trip in and out, I was still keen to squeeze in some activities such as a ‘no rush’ afternoon treat at a local cafe, quick jaunt to pick up kids clothes for the little humans in my life, breakfast/ afternoon coffee with friends that are in town, and an evening at the studio.

Yes, all jammed in my 3 days 2 nights, along with my  back to back meetings.

You see it was the first time stepping onto the island, knowing in every inch and corner of my body, heart and soul, it’s over between us. The last few years, the island was filled with snippets of what we did together – or where we went – even though it’s by far not a whole lot but certain places or restaurants will always have a part of him, or us.

And with the pocket of free time on this (work) trip, I wanted it to be about me. Doing the little things that makes up who I am or what I like.  As a result, I found myself one afternoon, squeezed in between folks I didn’t know (bye-bye personal space) in a table of 8, shook off any worries and the occasional remembrance of pain, to soak up the buzz of the local joint and savor every morsel of that way-too -greasy pork bun.

Not great for my waistline but so greasily, calorie-laden good for my heart and soul.

HK, I look forward to creating new memories with you. See you in 2018!
