Going down as one of my main highlight of 2017 and a lifetime rememberance was mixing fun with work on a trip to Taiwan, which I bought my 86 year old Grandma along with me. We headed to Hualien for the weekend, with the aim to catch the last few weeks of daylily blooms at Sixty Stone Mountain.

The flowers are known to bloom once a year from the period of August to September, a popular summer treats for the locals. Otherwise, known as ‘beauty for a day’, as it only takes a day for it’s matured bud to blossom. The sight of daylily flowers on rolling hills or endless stretch of plain fields is a glorious sight to behold, and had me comparing the impermanent existence of the flowers to certain life lessons – to never dull your own awesomeness, to always bloom to your glory and cherish the circumstances whatsoever, as nothing is ever loss in the world of impermanence.

I have always wanted to bring my Grandma on a short trip – just her and I, and knowing old age woes has crept upon her, it was even more important to bring her when she’s still able.  Hectic work travels, commitments and whatnots – can always wait for such precious togetherness and memories that will always have a home in both of our hearts.
