The last circus that I watched was ‘The Greatest Show on Earth’ by the Ringling Bros. Circus in Madison Square Garden in the late 80s. Years onward, the only word/meaning that I would associate ‘circus act’ to (minus the props, professional performers, outlandish theatrics and awesome acrobats; replaced by the comical antics of specific chosen members) would be our annual Chinese New Year gathering. In full anticipation of February 2016 🙂

So, I was definitely thrilled when H asked if I wanted to join him at Cirque du Soleil’s Totem – returning to Singapore after 10 years. It sure has taken me a good 10 years to immerse myself within the wondrous world of Cirque, despite hearing ravishing reviews from friends and turning down invites when the opportune presented to see them in Taipei and Tokyo. Well, never too late – I’ve taken to subscribing to their main site to stalk the potential, divine intervention of my presence in the cities they will be performing at.

Totem – the fascinating journey and interlink of human evolution (from amphibian state to it’s desire to fly) and it’s infinite imagination, boundless desires and potential. Beautifully staged, amazing musical, astonishing acrobatics, elaborate visuals – I was truly enchanted.

What a delightful night. It’s showing till 13 Dec – please go watch it, if you can spare the time and moolah. And if you really can’t, go listen to Totem on Spotify. No prize for guessing what’s been on my playlist 🙂
