In December ’14, we headed to New York to spend some sisterly time together with Gina. Prior to the trip, we were busily noting the to-dos and to-gos, and one of the things that pop up was to do a photo shoot together. Theme: commemorating sisterhood.
Gi’s my oldest childhood friend and despite the distance never had it once dampened our fam-friendship; life’s updates (reads: love life woes) do get delay at times but never once amiss. Kerri, is and always will be my littlest, brattiest with ties stronger than blood. It was the first in many years for these two to meet again and boy, did they hit it off- the same chilled back nature, indie taste, quirks and common refrainment from wanting to kill me (when I get into my high maintenance and bossy mode) , made this whole trip and time together ever more precious.
We engaged I Heart New York for the shoot, and basically said we wanted the venue at Dumbo and the rest we would leave it to how we felt on the day itself and for the photographer to do his magic. Days prior to the shoot, I was all over the girls with what we should wear, how we should do our hair, and blah blah blah. And in true, murphy’s fashion nothing went the way I envision, it was much better.
The chilly wind gave our hair-dos a nice ‘hair flip’ , walking in the wintry snow storm gave us a natural flush and because of the weather, we pretty much had an empty neighborhood for us to roam freely and allowed Mr. Photographer (for the life of me, I can’t remember his name) to capture candid shots of us teasing/poking fun at each other, talking and whining how frozen our faces were from the chills and smiling. Basically, capturing us in our elements, the pictures weren’t ready when we left NY, but there was sneaks thrown up on their FB page, and when we did get the final works, we were very pleased that it depicted exactly what we wanted, sisterhood.

[After the shoot]
Needless to say after two-hours out in the cold, all that was on our mind was the promise by Gi to bring us to Jacques Torres for the famed hot chocolate. Oh my *clutching my heart dramatically* was the Wicked (spicy spin) hot chocolate devilishly thick, not too sweet, and warming to all senses possible. Throw in a warmly heated chocolate chip cookie, if you ever have the chance to pop by one of JT’s shop, trust me on this. It’s a willy wonka fantasy come true for die-hard chocolate lovers.
The three of us basically sat in silent for a good 5 mins savoring and clutching the hot cuppa in front of us, before we decided to soak up the little chocolate wonderland. I’m still kicking myself for not buying a tin of wicked back. Oh well, my waistline thanks me – but I am harboring(wishful) hopes of heading there for a chocolate ice cream sandwich during spring/summer period (next year, maybe?).
