Anniversary1

Today, marks the third year anniversary of the 2011 earthquake and tsunami.

On this day, as I walked upon this soil and relishing the hustle, bustle and energy surrounding me – it’s extremely hard to envision the collapse of lives, the pain, the mourning that this nation had to endure as they strive to emerge from the disaster that took away more than 15,000+ of their own. As what Prime Minister Abe said today “from now on, I’ll emphasize not only the hard side of reconstruction, but also reconstruction of their hearts.” A heavy -hearted but humane statement.

At 2:46 pm, we did not adhere to a moment of silence in the office. We were all busy going about our stuff, but we did have a good laugh over someone’s ‘who let the dogs out’ ringtone. The office is usually very quiet during the afternoon, so it was a nice change to see everyone popping their head above their divider to see where the hideous tone was coming from. Filling one’s heart with lightness, gratitude and cherishing what’s in the present, is at times, the best remembrance.

On a separate but equally wrenching note, I pray for the truth to manifest soon, to the family and friends of those onboard MH370. I pray for little pain and suffering to be endured by those onboard MH370, wherever they may be now.

The world is praying and rooting for all of you.

My heart goes out to all of them.
