Plans were made to join the colleagues for a session of Saturday brunching at Aoyama Flower Market. Numerous blogs and write-ups have mentioned this beautiful haven and I was incredibly excited to check the place out.

You would never guess from the entrance a tea house was part of this flower market’s setup. Walk further in and you’ll find yourself entering an indoor-ish like greenhouse with natural sunlight dancing through the huge window panels.’Flowers of the day’ lavishly thrown about, pots of green plants lined nicely on the tables, and green vines sprouting from all corners. Creating a tranquil, hidden oasis for one to visually savour and relish.

Today’s presentation was very au natural and simplistic – hence I was a tad bit disappointed as I was hoping to see some wondrous flower and vine tapestry,  but was told it’s all dependant on the chosen flower or flowers of the day or festive season

The food menu consist of simple selections of salad, tartine, sandwiches and stews. Highly recommended was the flower french toast – which we shared amongst the three of us; beautifully splattered with flowers and fruits on top of lightly toasted brioche and a dollop of ice cream on the side. Nice to share but way to sweet as a meal on its own. I must say another trip is required to try out their tea offerings and skip on the mains or dessert –  as some interesting tea mixtures did catch my attention. My chosen tea for today was a pot of refresh blend of 5 different herbs – lemongrass, lemonbalm, peppermint, spearmint and pineapplemint.

A lovely place to gather with your girlfriends for an early brunch or afternoon tea session, it does get pretty noisy due to the contained area, so not the sort of place to go with my current read and wither my afternoon away. Still, it would be one of those places I’ll head over often if I was living here for a longer period of time and wanted fresh blooms for the apartment or just to gawk admiringly at the florists’ whimsical creation.
