It’s never a chore to get up early when one’s on holiday and the jiffy speed we take to get out of the hotel is always something we laugh about considering there’s no need or WANT to doll ourselves up. Yes yes, we do shower and ensure we look fairly presentable – no unmatched socks hur hur. Actually, all I need is sunscreen, black frame glasses, jeans/tees and my trusty chucks and I’m good to roll!

My must have in Taiwan for breakfast – 蛋餅 (Egg Crepes). There’s something about the rolled up goodness of fried (oily) eggs and pork floss that makes it a great morning meal…can’t forget the warm glass of soya milk too!

We decided to check out two stops along the way to Alishan – old rail station and a flower farm.

We were the first visitors to the rail station that morning and had the whole place to ourselves to explore, ponder and cook up stories in our heads the bygone of this old station.

I would have love to walk the whole stretch …

Zhang Ge knew of a hidden gem near the train station, which us lovers of all things zen and nature would be enchanted with. Boy, was he right ..major big brownie points scored here.

One day I would like to spend a few weeks (or months) in a place where I can spend the days hiking up the mountain, into the forest and over acres and acres of greens…

Meditation here, anyone?

Next up was the flower farm – Chung She Hua Shi. Personally, I found the place a tad bit cheesy, commercialized but who can resist a smile when you see beautiful flowers in every angle of your peripheral vision.

After the stroll in the flower farm and me frantically wiping off the soil of my clothes — oh yes, I fell butt-down into a huge pile of muddy soil, whilst trying to climb my way into the lavender flower field :)- we were finally on our way to Alishan.

No surprise here…I went straight for the coffee 🙂
