Day 1: Taipei – Taichung

We arrived in Taipei in the evening and headed right on to Taichung  – the beginning of the 5 day road trip that brought us silence, reflection, and understanding. Just what we needed and a good break away from… familiarity.

Dinner was at this popular noodle place outskirt of Taichung, known for their springy “mian tiao/面条” (you can choose between the thicker or thinner version), throw in a “lu dan/滷蛋” and dollop of chilli oil…and that makes one fine, comfort meal for simple me.

Walked off some of the dinner calories at Fengjia Night Market, touted as the biggest night market in Taiwan. Personally, I can’t deal with the crowds, not interested in some of the street food/snacks and found it hard to shop for knickknacks or souvenirs when you have people jabbing or trying to squeeze you out of the stall or cart.

So don’t take my words on this if you are able to deal with it hur hur.
