This work trip is turning out better than I expect – the office peeps are fantastic. I love the vibe and hospitality given. I’m meeting colleagues that I’ve built an amicable work relationship via phone and emails for the first time in person, always good to put a face to the voice but splendid when you meet and there’s no awkwardness and both of you catch up like long-lost friends (me think that’s the chatty and sociable side of me that make this job much easier at times).
Apart of me can’t help but compare fondly this work trip to the ones to China back in late 2009. The professional bond and discussions between certain key individuals in both countries share such strong similarities. I thoroughly enjoy the bouncing of creative ideas to enhance/better the practices in the local office, cultural discussion and the huge part it plays in our cross-border work environment, work perspectives and impact on competencies etc. It’s been nothing short of amazing and pretty much, the reason why I self-convince that I still like my job, despite THE despite.
Now, let’s not forget the work trip motto of ‘work hard, play harder in the country you’re visiting’ – It’s K’s first time in Bangkok and as touristy as it may sound, we simply had to fill her tummy with delicious Thai food and massage this evening.
First stop was The Health Land for our 1 1/2 hour massage. I’ve heard good stuff about this place but never had a chance to pay a visit, the concept of this place consist of not just spa & massage but a health centre providing clinical consultation with the usage of Thai herbs and selling of organic food.

Now I must say it’s been awhile since I’ve gone for a massage because with Chiro sessions there just hasn’t been a need for one but boy am I wrong, the 1 1/2 hour session had me out like a baby. The natural oil used was soothing and penetrated into various acupressure points, through the hands of the professional therapist. I’m sure of a good sleep tonight.
The therapist must have pressed on a acupressure point that urge on a huge hunger protest but being mindful of time ( 9pm when we got done with the massage), we opt for dinner at a Thai cafe near the hotel. I had the Tom Yum noodle, which was nothing to rave about except the soup base (sour and spicy) was rather appetizing, but only lasted a few spoonful.
It’s 11:44 pm and my tummy’s on strike again- control, Jasmine!
I really should stop talking about food cause I’m just THAT close in calling room service, will be good (my PT will be proud of me) and save the tummy for the breakfast spread tomorrow and get some work done for Friday’s presentation.
