My Korean peeps has been on a roll with the benefits of drinking corn silk tea, which has become quite a fad in Korea – within the entertainment industry (especially with female models) and ordinary folks.
The suggested benefits of drinking the tea;
1. Provides relief and treatment of urinary tract infections, cystitis, prostatitis and even claims to help those with kidney irritant problems
2. Helps in reducing the retention of fluids in the body, which in turns detoxify and flushes out toxins from the body (I remember reading @BagSnob tweeting along the lines of she’s going to pee herself to skinny-hood by drinking this tea).
3. The promise of giving you a “V-line” (sharp jaw line). Read more here along with 20 delicious Korean drinks. Much cheaper version compared to going under the knife, no?
4. Other benefits includes the treatment of jaundice, lowers blood pressure and arthritis issues
However, I’m pretty sure the hike in popularity for the tea amongst the female consumer was largely due to this pretty boy, Hyun Bin, whom was the first ambassador for the tea. Personally, not a huge fan of his nor did I catch him in the hyped up serial “Secret Garden“, which the peeps has been raving to me about.
I much prefer mature Korean actors (preference for older men hur hur) the likes of Jang Dong Gun and Lee Byung Hun (who’s rumoured to be dating someone 20 years his junior). Ok, am digressing – please pardon the ‘Gossipy Ajumma’ (old auntie) in me :).

Anyways, with the constant goading from the Korean peeps, I went and got myself a box of the corn silk tea from the neighborhood Korean (grocery) shop.

I’ll usually make a cup in the morning and after lunch in the office. Do I feel that my face is becoming more “V” or do I feel slimmer...uhhh, unfortunately no 🙂. But I really like the smooth, slightly pungent taste of the corn tea. No doubt it cuts a soothing drink and great replacement for coffee and tea – not sure about you guys, but a hot drink is much anticipated and favorable when there’s a long tele-meeting or documents to review at work.
Let me drink two more boxes and will update whether the “V” shape face appears hur hur!!
