The occurrence of health issues in the last two week has lead to a period of quiescence in my life. I’ve been telling friends around me the ‘health stars’ is not aligned for me this year and extra effort needs to be taken.
Two weeks back, one really fine day (I was on leave and taking the day really slow and watching k-dramas) when my nasal went ballistic on me, and spurn onto a full-blown nasal congestion. I shall spare the first week’s trauma of battling with my nasal and the GP prescribed antibiotics that wasn’t taking an effect whatsoever. To cut a long story short, I was introduced to a ENT specialist at Mt. E by a colleague (Dad use to frequent one at Mt. Eve but the old doctor has retired) and found myself there one afternoon undergoing a painful process of nasal endoscope and being diagnose as a serious bout of sinus chamber infection.

The quirky doc drew a pic for me;

I’ve been put on another round of antibiotics and inflammatory medicine which has been doing a pretty swell job. The congestion and cough (one of the symptoms ) has diminished by a fair bit. Dr. C says two sessions and I should be cleared of this and changing certain dietary and lifestyle habits will help tremendously such as:

– No cold drinks or stuff such as ice cream etc (I can live with this)
– Minimize time spent in an air con room (I’ve turned to sleeping w/o the air con; maintenance is getting someone down to fix the air con in my office room – or else I’ll be working from home for the next few weeks)
– No spicy food
– Drink a lot of fluid
Howbeit, I’ve turned to changing my own dietary habit (aside from his advice) –  I’ve stopped taking caffeinated drinks (i.e. coffee), seafood (except fish) and meat. Not sure what has come over me, but falling ill this time has heighten my desire to be a vegetarian again, as I recalled the time spent in Perth as a vegetarian- I HARDLY FELL SICK. Much to ponder on – it will be hard with a cheena family that prides on having 肉, but it’s my own body and no one should have the right to dictate it.

With that said, I’ve made a pact with myself for the month of Aug to do a full vegetarian diet and to spend time on recovering and getting my health back to order.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Plans were made this weekend knowing I haven’t been out much and feeling much better to get out of the house, without the constant need to blow my nose (and when I do, I’ll excuse myself and head to the loo. I find it particularly rude to be hard blowing my nose out in public).
Saturday
Much-needed massage with Sher, who’s just got back from a work trip to India. Lazy, carefree Sat spent pampering ourselves, having tea and popping into various designer shops to source on bag-ideas for her upcoming Europe trip.
It’s been a while we did such girlie stuff, so it was indeed a real treat to spend time with my partner-in-crime.
Relaxed-out from our massage at Spa Esprit (it’s going to be a monthly affair). Excuse the eyebags, pls
Sunday
Sunday breakfast with gf, Theresa – that I haven’t seen in months. It was nice to catch up over fruit juices and healthy brekkie choices (hehe). Extremely happy that she’s found a new footprint in her career, in an industry close to her heart. Lovely catching up with an old friend that I’ve drifted apart from in the last few years, looking forward to more catch-ups now that her new job doesn’t require constant traveling 🙂
Our juices: Green apple for T and Apple, Beetroot and Carrot for moi
Breakfast at Kith: Brioche with Scrambled Eggs for T and  Fruit Brioche w Yogurt and Strawberry for moi
I wish for a speedy recovery for myself and a great week (work week) ahead for ya’ll!
