We chose a Friday evening to gather some of our closest at our humble abode for a night of home-cooked delicacies and merry-making. It was also a sending off dinner for the god-bro, who was to return to Taiwan for his high school graduation and admission into college. I really enjoyed having him around the house the last two weeks and is missing his presence here at home.

Let see there was Daddy’s red wine chicken stew, Mum’s curry chicken, Aunt F’s steam fish with homemade chili sauce (very spicy and tangy) and braised duck, and steamed flower crabs, prawns and many others that had our tummy feeling very bliss. There was so much food and pigging out that I could only consume one meal the next day – big no no , as it slows the metabolism (ok, I shall save the dieting woes for another post).

Once the food was cleared (or wiped out) we took out the drinks for the night and gathered around the table for some good o’l chatting and hilarious stories of Aunt F’s jade shopping in Myanmar and Cousin K’s retreat in Hubei, China. By 1 am, the soft pitter-patter of the rain beckoned for the gathering to end with promises of doing it every month or two.

I couldn’t ask for a better way to welcome the weekend.
