New Place

A close friend said to me recently ‘it’s not the size of the house or the designer furniture that you furnish the place with but the people inside that brings the house alive”. I can’t agree more with her comment. Last night, the mother set up her ironing board near the dining room and got down to ironing the pile of clothes built up from the past week ( ahh, the woes of no- live in help now), dad got out his whiskey and we sat at the dining table, sipping and chattering away. It was our second night in the new house.

After 6 months of waiting, 2 months of renovations and 4 crazy days of moving – we’ve finally moved in.

We kept the renovation work as simple as we can, however with a old apartment there was much to be done. Minimalist was our first and foremost choice for the interior, allowing us to furnish and decorate the place with a mix mash of vintage finds, teak wood tables, and some of the folk’s prized Chinese paintings.

The new place blessed us with soundly rest on the first night and I’m sure there’s many more wonderful memories it shall bestow upon us. Quoting Dad – “you must love your home, and your home will surely reciprocate the love and protect all that lives under his roof” (loosely translated from Mandarin).
