The best bit of CNY is having Mum at home for the full 15 days.

Aside from the short trips she takes in the year with Dad or for the business, Mum doesn’t usually have much ‘time away from work’ or even to spend time at home, save for CNY period. It’s her annual leave period, I like to say to her.

During this period, Mum either spends time with her own family or in the kitchen whipping up home cooked meal for the family. Yesterday’s lunch was her own version of Lor Mee , Dad has his own version so I shall keep zip on which is better and usually, I’m sold when there’s loads of vinegar and chopped garlic thrown into it!
